Job Opening: Director of Total Rewards and HR Operations – Pre-IPO E-commerce Firm, New York, NY

I am the exclusive recruiter on this Director-level HR search for a pre-IPO e-commerce firm in New York City.  Seeking a driven and results-oriented Director of Total Rewards & HR Operations. Reporting to the VP, Human Resources, the successful candidate will oversee a team of four in the management of Benefits, Compensation, HR Systems, HR Compliance, Stock Administration, and HR Management Reporting. This role will also work to develop and execute a comprehensive communication strategy for all Total Rewards and HR Operations programs that will improve employee engagement, establish appropriate cadence and educate employees.  The Director, Total Rewards & HR Operations will work in partnership with Company Leadership to ensure that all programs support the targeted growth and profitability of the business.

Responsibilities

  • Work with HR Leadership to support employee needs, and bring solutions through use of data, technology, or compensation/benefit programs.
  • Manage staff responsible for compensation and benefits design/administration, HR systems, contractor management, compliance, reporting, stock administration, visa administration, and overall HR process.
  • Manage capital and operating budget for HR Operations, including benefit and compensation accruals/expenses.
  • Facilitate meetings, recommended solutions, and manage decision items for Compensation and Benefits.
  • Manage HR and Compensation policies, infrastructure, and processes to support the culture of the Company.
  • Manages all HR Systems and continues to evaluate, analyze, design, and maintain company Human Resources Information System (HRIS). Continually evaluate reporting needs.
  • Ensures data integrity, testing of system changes, report writing and analyzing data flows for process improvement opportunities.
  • Partner with Finance department to:
    • Manage and improve HRIS and Payroll workflows
    • Capitalize on HR data to analyze, forecast, and report on employee related expenses.
  • Continuously improve HR technology infrastructure to automate processes, implement web-based self-service features, and minimize administrative overhead.
  • Establish and/or strengthen relationships with key HR vendors to maximize value for the services they provide.
  • Responsible for all HR related SOX compliance and external reporting documentation.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in an HR Operations role.  Ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Benefits Design and negotiation, Executive Compensation, HR Systems and stock/equity plans.
  • Prior experience with Oracle Fusion strongly preferred.
  • Both public and private experience strongly preferred.
  • Must be a team player and boast, “can do attitude”, and be able to forge great relationships both within and outside the HR team.
  • Must have demonstrated executive presence, and comfortable with presenting at an executive level.
  • An ideal candidate will also have a practical, business-oriented approach to problem solving and thrive in fast-paced environment, tempered by an appreciation of complexity and risk.
  • Ability to demonstrate sound judgment in working through complex transactions, with the ability to analyze, problem solve and communicate observations and recommendations
  • Candidate should demonstrate strong business acumen, and be able to quickly learn and understand the financials and operational levers of the business.
